Hastelloy C-276
A nickel-based alloy with very good corrosion resistance. It is resistant to non-oxidizing acids, especially hydrochloric acid, at all concentrations up to the boiling point, and is also resistant to hydrogen chloride gas and reducing solutions. Hastelloy C has improved corrosion resistance in oxidizing atmospheres such as nitric acid or chlorine. In general, it has good processability and weldability and is processed into various shapes, so it is also used in the chemical industry.
Type Analysis
Description
Hastelloy C-276 is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium-tungsten alloy with excellent general corrosion resistance and good fabric properties. These alloys should be considered for use in environments where resistance to high temperature contaminated mineral acids, organic and inorganic chloride contaminated media, chlorine, formic and acetic acids, acetic acids, acetic anhydride, seawater and brine solutions is required.
Hastelloy C-276 resists the formation of grain boundary deposits in the heat affected zone of the weld, making it suitable for most chemical and petrochemical processing applications in the weld state.
This alloy has resisted both general and localized corrosion including pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.
Hastelloy C-276 is easily fabricated by welding using methods similar to those used for nickel-base alloys.
Corrosion Resistance
Hastelloy C-276 is balanced to provide excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of chemical process environments. This alloy provides resistance to high temperature contaminated mineral acids, organic and inorganic chloride contaminating media, hypochlorous acid, chlorine dioxide solutions, formic and acetic acids, acetic anhydride, seawater and brine solutions.
